Tacky Tape Tumblers
I started my journey into tumblers just a few short months ago. I have always worked with resin but for some reason, the idea of doing tumblers just freaked me out. After attending the Great American Craft Expo hosted by The Glitter Guy, I decided I was going to try my hand at tumblers and here is what I have learned.
It takes a lot of meticulous patience to make a nice tumbler. There are far more steps than I ever imagined and even more methods. I tried the tacky tape method, also known as the “cat scratch paper” method. With this method you create a design and then cut it using your electronic cutting machine.
You carefully remove the protective paper from each area you are going to glitter and then the glitter will stick on the paper.
Once you have gotten your glitter on, you are now tasked with the very difficult job of putting this on to your tumbler. I can’t tell you how many times I messed this process up. It’s been a major learning curve for me and I am not even going to attempt to show you what I did because I am sure I did it wrong!
Once I managed to actually get it on to my tumbler, this is when you add your first layer of epoxy
if you look closely you will notice every single mistake I made. I am going to assume that with practice you can actually get quite good at this. I know this because my friend made me a tumbler using this method and hers looks absolutely perfect! I would love to see what tips you all use for creating these tumblers.
